Founded in 2018

“Hi, I’m Shannon Dugan, the owner of Level Pup. ”

“I moved to Bloomington in August 2018 after my partner at the time got a job down at Crane. On the same day, I got a job here working at a local boarding and daycare facility. We moved from Ohio, where I had grown up and also studied Animal Sciences at The Ohio State University.”

“Since 2015, I’ve been involved in the pet care industry. I felt satisfied working in boarding facilities and daycares over the years, learning the ins-and-outs of the industry as well as collecting valuable experience. In 2018, I realized that there was only so much I could do as an employee of other facilities. I wanted to do so much more. So I decided to branch out on my own and found Level Pup.”

Creating an Unparalleled Service

“I worked several years at Pet Palace as a Shift Lead, an attendant at Wag-On-Inn, and an attendant at Whitehall Animal Country Club. In all of these places, I have been constantly been exposed to cats and dogs, memorizing their behavior, but also learning how each individual functions differently. I’ve monitored (refereed!) large groups of dogs, administered hundreds of medications, and am still learning more every day to provide the best care.”

“I not only want to get to know you and your pet, but also for you to know me. I think it’s important to have a connection with the people directly involved in your families life, whether that’s your children or your fur kids.”

“A little about me outside of work– I crave change and new experiences. I love to go on adventures, explore, and meet new people. I am an introvert, however, so often I go on solo adventures or pursue activities on my own. Honestly, I love to do a little bit of everything. I journal, paint, hike, work with my furry friends, grow my business, keep up with old friends, and even things like play video games, watch Netflix, and enjoy a glass of wine.”

“I genuinely love helping people and making their day a little brighter. I’m not in this to make tons of money, but to do something I love while helping out pets and their owners full-time. If you ever get to know me, you can count on me to do my very best to meet your needs every time! “

“Hello, my name is Alexa! I just recently started working full-time at Level Pup in October of 2022, since I am not a student. I was raised in Cloverdale, IN my whole life but, within the past couple years I have moved to Spencer, IN where I now commute to Bloomington. Growing up I have always had an unconditional love for any and all animals that my parents did not relate too. Because of this I was always limited on childhood pets, so I would find any excuse to dog sit/cat sit for others! From a young age I have been taking care of family friend’s pups and I could not be any more excited about doing it as a job! I take pride in my work, and my goal is to make sure your pup and any other furry friends are happy and healthy.”

“When I had moved to Spencer I brought my sweet rescue pup, Shyla, along with me. It was just us for a while and it did not take long until we decided to expand our little pet family. A few months later we had two new snakes, and a Great Pyrenees puppy named Bear! We got Bear when he was about 7 weeks old, so I took on all the training for him. I taught him basic commands, and even cool party tricks. I have kennel trained, potty trained and wireless fence trained him as well. Our snakes include a Kenyan Sand Boa named Craig, and an Amazon Tree Boa named Medusa, so even your reptile babies are safe with me!”

“When I had learned about this job, I thought it was too good to be true, it was the perfect job for me. I had also come from a very large corporate job so I am ecstatic to be supporting a small business in Bloomington, especially Shannon’s! Personally, I love exploring the outdoors, listening to music, and spending time with animals of course. I truly enjoy helping people feel comforted knowing their pet is being taken care of, walked, or even taken on a little field trip!”

“Hello, I’m Sam! I have a passion for animals that has developed personally throughout my life and professionally for the past 10 years. I have been working with dogs and cats since my first job at Blue Bonnet Bunk N’ Biscuit, a dog boarding facility in my hometown of San Antonio, Texas. From there I spent my time volunteering at the San Antonio Humane Society where I furthered this education and picked up some valuable skills in reading and deciphering body language.  My sister is a certified professional dog trainer in San Antonio, who specializes in positive reinforcement training for behavior cases like aggression and reactivity. I have lived with her for many years and have even been employed by her as a dog walker/trainer for her business, Woof It! Dog Walking and Training. As a result, I have gained extensive knowledge about the care of animals under her supervision. All of this experience has culminated to create the animal caretaker I am today! I have experience in positive reinforcement and clicker training, reading dog body language, defensive leash handling, the LIMA protocol, and responding to emergency scenarios.

“I love to provide an enriching experience for your animal(s) by giving them lots of opportunities to workout their brains as well as their bodies. My priority when caring for your pet is to keep them safe, happy, and healthy!

“A bit more about me, personally: I love any sort of storytelling media whether it be movies, music, books, or podcasts. I grew up in a very musical family and still love to play my bass guitar every once in a while and sing in the car.”

“I have a service dog named Dax who is the light of my life. He is a Shepherd Mix from the pound (or a “San Antonio Special” as we like to call it in the shelter biz), and I am thankful every day that I was able to snag him! I also have a wee black cat, named Pepper, who I picked up on the streets a few years ago. There is nothing I love more than watching movies with my boy snuggled up next to me while Pepper loses her mind and zooms around us. Dax and I also love to go on hikes together and check out the miriad of festivals and activities around town.”

“While my love for animals is infinite, my true passion is for folklore and all of the little stories and rituals that make us human. I am currently studying Foklore and Ethnomusicology at IU and hope to eventually pursue a career as a museum director so that I might further this passion in myself, share and educate others about the cool stuff that makes people who they are, and hopefully have an impact on the world through the representation of people and ideas that have been overlooked.”

“Hello, my name is Rachel! I just started at I’m already in love! I am a transfer student and will be starting my first semester at IU in the fall. I major in Social Work and minor in Animal Behavior. I just got into the BSW program! My plan is to eventually become a Veterinary Social Worker. I had a challenging upbringing and I want to use that to help others. Animals are what make me happy and I just love being able to be there for them.”

“I have had a love for animals ever since I was a child. I grew up having dogs and cats and they were my pride and joy. My aunt volunteered at Pet Refuge in South Bend, IN and as a child I would go to camps and help out! I worked at Kryder Kritter Hotel in Granger, IN over a year and a half until I moved here. It truly showed me that I wanted to work with animals. I learned and grew so much as a person from working there. I have also been doing dog sitting ever since I got my license. Animals have always been my passion and I cannot wait to continue working with them! :)”

Finley Snyder

“Hello! My name is Finley and I just recently started working here at Level Pup! I had always loved animals my whole life, even though I’m allergic to cats and dogs. I was never able to have a pet as a kid because my dad is more allergic than me! Because of this, I would try to cat sit and dog sit my friends animals when they went out of town! I’m from Granger, Indiana and I’m starting my sophomore year here at IU! Before here, I was working at Kryder Kritter Hotel back in Granger, where I was first introduced into how much I adore animals and caring for them. I worked there for about a year and a half until moving down here to Bloomington full time! Back at home I have two cats that we rescued in November 2022, and they are who I miss the most! Miso is my kitty and Goose is my sister’s! Once I got them I realized how much I absolutely adore cats! So I am very excited to see some cat clients on my schedule!”

“I’m super excited for this job and I can’t wait for all the pups and kitties that I’ll be able to meet and care for!”

Nick Jones

“Hi! My name is Nick, and I am the newest member of the Level Pup team! There are very few things on this earth I enjoy more than video games and skateboarding, but animals are definitely one of them. Growing up, I was constantly around animals. Whether it was at my house taking care of and playing with my many dogs, or at my grandma’s feeding and riding her horses, I have always gotten so much joy tending to pets! I even helped my mom watch other people’s fur children on occasion after I got home from school. I plan on working full time at Level Pup, devoting my all into ensuring your pets endure the quality care they deserve while under our supervision.”

“A little about my life; I currently reside in Cloverdale with my wonderful girlfriend, and two dogs of our own, Shyla (our black lab) and Bear (our great pyrenees). I even have a little reptile friend named Craig, and he is a Kenyan Sand Boa! They are my life, and cannot express how deeply I care for all four of them. If I am not spending time with them, you could catch me enjoying some alone time riding my skateboard or playing video games with friends. Also, I have always loved the outdoors. Going out for a hike or even a five-minute walk has always relaxed me substantially! It’s a simple life, but that is all I need to keep me happy and motivated!”
